One advantage of married couples having mutual hobbies is that they are brought closer together in their marriage. And there are a lot of husbands and wives out there who work on certain projects together. Interestingly, this married couple decided to do something that would both bring them closer and give even the bravest of carpenters a run for their money.
The idea came when they started dreaming about owning a boat when they retire. But this boat was unlike any other boat. It was a massive 45′ aluminum sailboat. So slowly but surely, they built their dream boat in their backyard over a period of 14 years. Though it seemed long, they never gave up and they did the process from start to finish. It was indeed a long process, but it was totally worth it when everything was done.
Starting off with the framing by constructing a level surface.
First set of frames up.
Aluminium bulkhead is used for each of the frame.
Frames and stringers at the keel.
Using a crane to flip the boat over.
Then, the cockpit being plated.
The deck and hatches.
The hull is finally completed!
Transferring the boat from the back yard with the use of cranes.
Saying goodbye to the backyard!
Meet the source of power, the green Volvo engine.
Preparing for the ballast installation.
The hardworking couple working hard together.
Still a lot of carpentry work needed to be done.
Transforming the living room into a workplace.
Dresser and drawers.
All set and ready to go!
Isn’t she beautiful?
