The World’s Largest Underwater Hotel is Out of This World
The Water Discus Hotel, designed by Polish firm Deep Ocean Technology, will be the world’s largest underwater hotel when completed.
Located in Dubai, there will be hotel rooms both on the seabed and on stilts above the water’s surface.
The hotel will be made up of two main discs, one above water and one below the surface, connected by five columns and a vertical shaft for the staircase and elevators.
The 21 hotel rooms on the seabed will feature mesmerizing underwater views, an underwater diving centre and a bar.
Each of the smaller discs can be detached from the main upper disc in case of an emergency. These discs can be used as a buoyant life raft.
According to the developer, the hotel will be modular in nature, enabling expansion easily and even allowing the entire hotel to be moved to a new location.
The diving center will be accessed through an underwater airlock, allowing divers to dive straight to the ocean.
The Water Discus is not the world’s first underwater hotel – there is already one in the Maldives and one in Florida. But it will be the world’s largest and the first in Dubai.
